The Obstacle

I consulted the I Ching last week about what we could do toward enhancing our chances of winning the lottery here in Brazil. The main hexagram was the sign for "retire", however there was a transforming line within the figure that showed the transforming figure as "obstacle". Now this did not make me very happy. As I dug deeper, I saw that one of the lines in the description showed that there may be a malevolent spirit who is wishing harm on the physical, or in our case, us! This will require some work, and a lot of insight. But if we succeed, it will mean more than just winning some money. It will mean that we have overcome something that was beyond the phyical word, and learned to work with invisible forces.

Winning the Brazilian Lottery

When we moved to Brazil in 1994, we soon decided that Rio de Janeiro was not the place we wanted to live, at least not in the beginning. So, we moved to Teresopolis, about 2 hours inland and lived in the country, on a little farm. We both taught English at a course there in the city and took turns watching our son, Mickael. It was great, though we were just getting by financially. We continued to share the dream of winning and one day by chance we met a woman who had done it. Zeze, as she was called told us she had the secret, and promised to share it.

1989 The Year it All Began

When we first met, back in 1989, we were convinced we would live happily ever after and manifest everything we needed to make our lives lovely. We lived in New York City, the city of dreams, and began playing the lottery there, thinking "If we could only win the lottery, neither of us would have to work and we could buy a nice house and just travel the world!"

We played and played, we soon learned that dumb luck only shines on the few. To really win, we were going to have to do some work. We had to have a secret formula, or develop our own. We learned about the power of the mind, visualization and affirmation, even the power of crystals. While never letting go of our dreams, it soon became clear that this winning thing was a tall order and would take longer than we expected. We had to mature, let go of the normal way of thinking. We had to have priorities, and have both our hearts and our heads in the right place.
